Leading the Legend of Ron Burgundy-Zelda Trophy Division

On December 14, 2010December 14, 2010 By Frank the TankIn Big Ten, College Basketball, College Football, Sports83 Comments

For the record, this is what I think of the new Big Ten logo:

As for what I think of the new Big Ten division names of “Legends” and “Leaders”:

Frankly, the best proposal that I’ve seen on the Internet was a very subtle change to the current logo by mgoblog commenter MGoBSam:

Note the minimalist alteration to the logo, a clear indication that the Big Ten now has 12 members and an understated intimation that the conference is indeed in a leadership position.  This could only be the work of the love child of Mark Rothko and Leo Burnett.

All we have to do is take this logo, name the divisions North and South (as numerous commenters on this blog have indicated, this is accurate except for the juxtaposition of Northwestern and Wisconsin and have noted that SEC East member Vanderbilt is actually west of SEC West member Auburn) and we can save some face.

I’ll be back soon with the long-promised post on a viable plus-one system.
